Each rug we offer is hand-loomed and hand dyed mainly with natural dyes, and using nothing but the best quality of 100% sheep wool The Zapotec weaving tradition in Teotitlan del Valle dates back to at least 500 B. C. Although early weavers used cotton and ixtle and utilized the back-strap loom, upon the arrival of the Spaniards the Zapotecs adapted the treadle loom as well as the wool. Our collection of rugs, accessories, and decors are suitable for wall hangings, placemats, rug areas, hall and table runners, as well as pillows, bags and pouches. Custom orders can be made in any size from 2’x3’ to 14’x20’ ft.
